Pontus Lidberg

The visionary Swedish artist Pontus Lidberg, choreographer, director, and dancer, presents, together with the dancer Paulo Arrais, an extract from the new work destined for the 2023 Biennale of Dance, in a site-specific version for Tones Teatro Natura.

Winner of a John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship in 2019, Pontus Lidberg has established himself as a visionary artist, combining dance and film.

He has created works for companies including the Paris Opera Ballet, New York City Ballet, Martha Graham Dance Company, Vienna Staatsoper Ballet, Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo, Semperoper Ballet Dresden, Royal Swedish Ballet, Royal Danish Ballet, Le Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève, Acosta Danza, Beijing Dance Theatre, and many others.

His film, The Rain, has received numerous prizes. The New York Times wrote, “Memorably “The Rain” illustrates what filmed dance can say that staged dance cannot.” His film Labyrinth Within won the best film prize at the Dance on Camera Festival in 2012. His first feature length film, Written on Water, with Aurélie Dupont, was previewed at Le Festival International du Film sur l’Art di Montréal in 2021.
