Born in 2014, the event has become one of the best European festivals dedicated to digital and electronic languages, attracting young audiences from all over Italy and abroad, thanks to a lineup of international artists who bring their live performances, DJ sets, and audio/video shows during a week full of innovations and site-specific productions.

Since 2021, Nextones has been co-produced with Threes Production, which offers its artistic, innovative, and interdisciplinary vision to the project. Threes shares with Tones on the Stones a strong environmental and ecological sensitivity.

Visual Identity 2024

Born in Pordenone, Mattia Balsamini moved to Los Angeles in 2008, where he began his studies at the Brooks Institute. In 2010, he started working at David LaChapelle’s studio as a studio assistant and archivist. In 2011, after graduating with honors, he returned to Italy.

He teaches photography at the IUAV University of Venice and extensively photographs technology and its social implications, focusing on work as a factor of identity. Over the years, he has undertaken personal and editorial projects in collaboration with institutions such as MIT, NASA, the Charité University of Berlin, and the Institute of Legal Medicine at the University of Zurich. His work has been exhibited at the Triennale di Milano, MAXXI, the Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation, and the Italian Cultural Institute in San Francisco.

Nextones will take place even under moderately adverse weather conditions. Should such conditions pose a danger to people’s safety or technically prevent the performance of shows, the production will have the authority to suspend or reschedule the performances. In case a show is canceled due to weather conditions, the ticket will be refunded unless 90 or more minutes of the show, even non-consecutive, have been performed.
